Bhutan
Sacred.

The last Himalayan kingdom, where happiness is policy and mist-draped valleys hold monasteries in silence — the climb to Tiger's Nest, prayer flags on the wind, and stays of quiet grandeur.

About Bhutan

The kingdom that
chose happiness.

Bhutan is Asia's most singular destination — a country that has chosen to measure its success not in GDP but in Gross National Happiness, that has limited tourism not to restrict it but to protect the integrity of the experience. Every visitor pays a Sustainable Development Fee. Every visitor gets something no other Asian destination can offer: a country that is genuinely, profoundly itself.

ILH's Bhutan programs are among our most carefully crafted journeys — the ascent to Taktsang Palphug (Tiger's Nest), the morning meditation at Punakha Dzong, the farmhouse dinner in Bumthang. These are experiences that require local guides of rare knowledge, and ILH ensures your clients have them.

Signature Experiences

Four moments that
redefine travel.

Tiger's Nest
01
The Tiger's Nest Ascent

Taktsang Palphug clings to a 900-metre cliff above the Paro Valley — a 10th-century monastery where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. The 3-hour ascent through pine forest and prayer flags is among the most profound walks in Asia.

Punakha
02
Punakha Dzong at Dawn

The most beautiful dzong in Bhutan sits at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers — its white-washed walls reflecting in the water at dawn, before the other visitors arrive. ILH coordinates early access with the dzong's custodians.

03
Dochula Pass Panorama

At 3,100 metres, 108 chortens line the pass where, on a clear winter morning, the entire eastern Himalayan range is visible — Gangkhar Puensum, the world's highest unclimbed mountain, among them. A silence that changes perspective.

Tsechu Festival & Farmhouse

The Paro Tsechu in spring brings masked dance, ancient ritual and a celebration of the living culture that Bhutan has preserved with extraordinary care. ILH times itineraries to coincide with festival dates, and arranges farmhouse dinners that follow.
