What is the best Philippines itinerary for a first-time client?
Palawan is an excellent choice for first-time visitors to the Philippines, combining dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise lagoons, pristine beaches and spectacular island scenery. A seven-night itinerary covering El Nido and Coron offers memorable island-hopping excursions by traditional bangka boat, hidden lagoons, crystal-clear waters and some of the country's most beautiful coastal landscapes.
For clients who want to discover more of Palawan's natural wonders, Puerto Princesa's Underground River is a worthwhile addition. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features a remarkable navigable underground river flowing through a limestone cave system. Allow additional nights and transfers to include it comfortably.
Clients with less time can consider five nights in Siargao for a relaxed island escape, while those seeking exceptional privacy and exclusivity may prefer four nights at Amanpulo, a private-island resort in the Cuyo Archipelago. Diving enthusiasts can add Coron for its renowned World War II shipwreck dive sites.
The dry season, generally from November to May, is a popular time to explore Palawan, although weather conditions vary by island and month.
Travel-agent tip: For a seven-night first visit, keep the itinerary focused on El Nido and Coron. Offer Puerto Princesa as an extension for clients with more time, rather than making the trip unnecessarily rushed.
Is the Philippines visa-free for most nationalities?
Yes. Citizens of 157 countries can enter visa-free for an initial 30 days, which can be extended by 29 days (to 59 days) through the Bureau of Immigration; longer stays are also handled by the Bureau of Immigration. Travellers need a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay and a return or onward ticket. ILH shares the current visa-free list with every quote. Indian passport holders can enter visa-free for 14 days for tourism or business; this cannot be extended or converted, and they also need a confirmed hotel booking and proof of funds. Indians holding a valid visa or residence permit from Australia, Japan, Canada, the Schengen area, Singapore, the UK or the USA can stay up to 30 days visa-free for tourism, also not extendable. Entry rules are set by the Philippine government and may change.
When is typhoon season and how does it affect programs?
November to May is the dry season and the best time to sell. Typhoon season runs from June to November, peaking from August to October. Palawan and Coron are less affected than eastern Luzon and the Visayas, but inter-island flights can be disrupted, so we build 24-hour buffer days into typhoon-season itineraries.
Do you handle inter-island flights and seaplane transfers?
Yes. Every Philippines itinerary needs domestic-flight coordination — typically Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or AirSWIFT for Palawan routings. Seaplane and private-charter transfers can be arranged on selected routes, such as between El Nido and Coron, and Amanpulo is reached by the resort's own charter flight from Manila. ILH monitors flight schedules daily and rebooks proactively when disruptions occur.
