The Ramayana Trail for travel agents.
Seven days through the temples, gardens and hills linked with Rama, Sita, Hanuman and Ravana. Planned, contracted and run by ILH for your clients.
Sri Lanka's sites from the Ramayana.
In Hindu tradition, Sri Lanka is Lanka, the kingdom of Ravana, where Sita was held and where Rama and Hanuman came to rescue her. Temples and natural sites across the island are linked with the story by local tradition, and Sri Lanka Tourism promotes them together as the Ramayana Trail.
The trail sells to Hindu pilgrims, Indian and Indian-diaspora families and culture-led travellers. It works well because it combines faith stops with Sri Lanka's best scenery: tea country, waterfalls, Sigiriya and the south coast. Brief us with the group's dates, size and hotel level and we return a priced program with every service itemised.
Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella and Galle.
Our most-requested routing. Every day can be adjusted for pace, hotel level and the group's priorities.

Shape the program to the group.
Ramayana Trail essentials.
Agent questions, answered.
How many nights does the Ramayana Trail need?
Our signature program is 7 days / 6 nights from Colombo and covers the main Ramayana sites at a comfortable pace. It can be shortened by dropping the Colombo city day, or extended with extra beach nights in Bentota or a Kandy and Sigiriya stopover.
Which Ramayana sites does the tour include?
Munneswaram and Manavari temples near Chilaw, the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple at Ramboda, Seetha Amman Temple and Hakgala Botanical Garden (associated with Ashok Vatika) near Nuwara Eliya, Ravana Falls and Ravana Cave at Ella, and Ussangoda on the south coast. Divurumpola Temple can be added on the Nuwara Eliya to Ella leg.
Is the tour suitable for senior travellers?
Yes, with planning. Travel is by private air-conditioned vehicle and most temples are close to the road. Hill-country drives are slow and winding, and Ravana Cave involves a steep climb, so we can swap or skip demanding stops and pace the days for elderly pilgrims.
Can vegetarian meals be arranged?
Vegetarian meals can be requested throughout. Tell us about any specific dietary needs with the brief and we confirm what each hotel can provide.
Can the Ramayana Trail be combined with India?
Yes. Many agents pair Sri Lanka with Ramayana and pilgrimage sites in India, or with a Maldives beach extension. Share the client's dates and we will quote the combined program.
What entry documents do clients need for Sri Lanka?
Most nationalities need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travel. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm the current requirement for each traveller's passport with the quote and share the official application link.
